Overview
The core elements of
high quality are well-educated and well-compensated staff; yet
child care providers may be the poorest paid group of
professionals in the nation. This vast pool of underpaid women
have shown a willingness to put their real needs aside to serve
our young children.
Mobilizing them to advocate for themselves, as key elements in
quality early education, is critical to the welfare of our
society.

Since 1991 DVAEYC has been actively
supporting early childhood teachers, through its Worthy Wage
Campaign, to advocate for the resources they need to offer
quality care and education to young children.
In 2000, we took leadership in launching PA QUEST
(Quality Early Education through Salaries and Training) as a
vehicle for moving forward the quality/compensation agenda in
the state.
