Let's Celebrate the Week of the Young Child

Release Date: April 5, 2012

Let’s All Celebrate Week of the Young Child

Week of the Young Child™, sponsored by NAEYC, is April 22-28. We encourage all our members to take advantage of this opportunity, with its theme, Early Years are Learning Years®. For general resources from NAEYC, click here.

Part of the goal of WOYC is to raise awareness about the importance of investing in young children. As DVAEYC members, we hope that—however you celebrate—you will include these two elements:

1. Encourage everyone who participates—staff, parents and grandparents, community members—to participate in our Promises Made, Promises Broken campaign, [by viewing the two-minute video of Governor Corbett’s campaign promise to increase funding for quality child care[link] and sharing it with at least one friend. Help us reach our goal of 2,500 views before Action Day on May 1!

2. Let us know how you celebrated! Send photos and captions or a brief paragraph to the DVAEYC Connection editor [link to my e-mail address], so we can publish a spread on WOYC in an upcoming issue of Connection.
