Tell Congress to Fund Child Care!
Release Date: December 2, 2014
Tell Congress to Fund Child Care Subsidy TODAY!
In November, we had great news – after almost twenty years, the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) reauthorization was finally signed into law! CCDBG provides about half the funding for child care subsidy in Pennsylvania, and a significant portion of funding for Keystone STARS. Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and secure the funding needed to ensure that CCDBG can do what was intended -- help make high-quality programs affordable and accessible to more children and their families.
It is important that you thank your Senators and Representatives for supporting CCDBG, but also urge them to significantly increase funding for the program, given the new requirements it includes for health, safety, and quality. With the right funding, here’s what CCDBG reauthorization would do:
- Improve the health and safety of children in child care settings
- Make it easier for women and families to get and keep the child care assistance they need
- Enable children to have more stable child care
- Strengthen the quality of child care
At the link, you will find a sample action alert email to send out to your members. Please be sure to reach out to your members of Congress before December 11 so we can ensure children and families have the access they need to quality early leanring in Pennsylvania and the nation.
