Since 1994, DVAEYC recognizes individuals outside the field of Early Childhood Education who show a deep commitment to championing high quality early education for all children in Southeastern Pennsylvania. This year, we are excited to honor Chris Cashman!

After serving 18 years at Independence Blue Cross, Chris recently retired as Executive Vice President and President of Commercial Markets in December 2015. Long a tireless advocate for improving early education and engaging the community to improve the lives of young children and their families, Chris serves on the boards of the YMCA Philadelphia & Vicinity, the Zoological Society of Philadelphia, the Girls Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. In 2012, he was named Father of the Year by the American Diabetes Association in recognition of his community and corporate leadership. Through his work with the United Way, Chris passionately supported the creation of the Success By 6 (SB6) program — one of the Philadelphia region’s largest programs dedicated to early childhood quality improvement. DVAEYC has been a proud partner in the SB6 program since its inception in 2007, and has helped almost 200 programs achieve high quality, positively impacting the lives of more than 9,000 young children and their families.

DVAEYC is proud to honor Chris Cashman as our 2016 Champion for Young Children!
